I don’t paint. I don’t write poetry. I believe that my form of art is really building businesses. ​Most of the businesses (especially the brands) are really just an extension of myself.

With the barriers to entry basically crumbling in most industries (like, your cousin Todd with a WiFi signal can prompt build a website and suddenly become a "tech bro”) you need to invest in moats.

Let me tell you what I hate. I hate pulling trains uphill. If you’ve ever tried to build a business in a shrinking market, you know what I mean.​

Marketing and sales are damn near everything. Over the last 12 months, I feel like I’ve been back in school except this time, it’s not some fancy college program.

I’d trade all of that in a heartbeat to build cool stuff with cool people I love spending time with.
