Ben's 1x1x1 - Steal My Morning Pep-Talks - September 26, 2025 π
For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1. β One thought from my week. One interesting find/tool from my week. One image from my life.
Let's dive in π
Thought from the week
Every morning I sit down with a cup of coffee, a pen, and the kind of paper that was definitely meant for more important things than my chicken-scratch handwriting.
I write out my to-do list. β Highest leverage stuff only. β No βfold laundryβ or βbuy oat milkβ makes the cut. β Just the needle-movers.
But the real magic? β At the very top, I write a little message to myself. β A mini pep-talk. β Sometimes itβs a gentle reminder. β Other times itβs a βlight a fire under your ass because nobody else is gonna do itβ message.
Lacking a little motivation or discipline? β Here are 5 of my favorites that keep me moving forward: β β1. Impatience with actions. Patience with results. β βI think about this SEAL saying a lot. The idea: β Impatience with actions: Move fast, take initiative, execute now. β Patience with results: Don't expect instant success or immediate payoff. Endurance, persistence, and consistency compound over time. β β2. Just a little bit better.
I don't need a giant win every day. β I just need to get a little bit better every day.
This compounds to the big wins. β β3. Dig deep. Focus the effort. Never give up. β βThis was the background of my phone during the first two years of WeHero. β Basically, a constant reminder that startups are hard and DoorDash is not a career plan B. β β4. Life is play.
Because sometimes I forget and turn it into a serious board meeting in my own head.
4. Kick some f*cking ass!

Interesting Tool/Find
Want something to do when youβre doom-scrolling Instagram or trying to figure out if Uber Eats gave you 10% off or just the illusion of savings?
I dusted off my old Lumosity subscription. β Do I feel sharper? Sure. β Can I remember what I ate for lunch two days ago? Not a chance.
