Thought from the week

Ever get curious about how much an employee really does?

Easy solution: just hijack their job for a week.

We had one of our amazing team members jet off on a 10-day Montana adventure recently.

I volunteered as tribute and said, “Sure, I’ll cover you!”

And let me tell you, I haven’t been this stressed and overwhelmed since the birth of our first child while trying to work at the same time.

Turns out, she’s like a ninja behind the scenes for our business.

The sheer number of tasks she juggles, the client love she’s earned, and the way she basically gifts me hours of sanity each week.

Yeah, it’s eye-opening.

I’ve been deep in the trenches counting the days till she’s back.

It’s funny because from a distance, you might think, “Eh, maybe they’re not doing all that much.”

And maybe they’re too humble to toot their own horn.

But step into their shoes for a few days and you’ll see the real magic.

It’s a quick reality check on just how much value that person brings and why they’re worth every bit of support and investment.

Anyways, just a little rant about me being overwhelmed and how you can quickly tell how valuable an employee is to your business.

Interesting Tool/Find

Nothing worthy of your eyes this week!

Image from my life

I visited my aunt and uncle’s 200-acre pistachio farm this week.

I basically turned into a squirrel and ate my body weight in them, fresh off the tree. Highly recommend.

What’s wild is that these trees take 9 years just to break even.

That’s longer than most people stay in a job, a relationship, or a gym membership.

But once they hit their stride, they will produce profits for the next 41 years.

Even cooler, some of the trees have sensors that track their water usage and efficiency.

Like Fitbits. For trees.

Farming is wild. Long bets, slow plays, and if you’re lucky, a salty, crunchy payoff.

See you all next week!
