Ben's 1x1x1 - I've been a coward - April 10, 2026 🚀

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One thought from my week.
One interesting find/tool from my week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in 👇

Thought from the week

I’ve been a coward.

There. I said it.

For the last few months I’ve been playing a very fun game called “Why We Definitely Shouldn’t Market Luna Yet.”

The rules are simple:

  • Find tiny problem
  • Turn it into existential crisis
  • Decide we should definitely wait another month

“We’ll start marketing once we fix that bug.”

“We’ll start marketing once we build that feature that somehow helps cats live to 47.”

“We’ll start marketing once we import the latest research paper written by three veterinarians and a wizard.”

I have an industrial-sized Costco bag of excuses.

Which is weird because normally I’m an absolute maniac when it comes to marketing and sales.

Usually I’m the guy standing on the roof screaming:

“LET’S RUN ADS.”

“LET’S SEND EMAILS.”

“LET’S SELL THIS THING BEFORE WE EVEN FINISH SPELLCHECKING THE LANDING PAGE.”

Fearless.

Or at least too dumb to be afraid.

But Luna has been different.

Part of it is that B2C is still really new to me. I’ve spent most of my life selling to businesses.

Businesses are easy. You send them a 37-page PDF, say things like “operational efficiency,” and everyone nods seriously.

Consumers are different.

But the bigger, more honest reason is that I’ve been scared.

Because if I don’t really push it, I get to keep the dream alive.

Maybe Luna is secretly amazing.

Maybe everyone wants it.

Maybe the only reason it hasn’t exploded is because we “haven’t marketed it yet.”

Very convenient story.

The problem is eventually you have to stop lovingly polishing the cannonball and actually fire the damn thing.

My longtime business partner and friend Andy is really good at knowing when I need a push.

With a firm and deeply needed nudge, he basically dragged me out of the fetal position, slapped the excuses out of my hand, pointed at the marketing machine, and said:

“You know… we could just turn this on.”

So now we’re doing it.

Ads. Emails. Social. Partnerships. The whole thing.

Will it work?

No idea.

Could nobody want it?

Absolutely.

Could that sting a little?

Also yes.

But that’s still better than spending the next six months hiding behind “we just need one more feature.”

Being scared is normal.

Just make sure you have an Andy in your life.

Preferably one who can virtually slap you across the face and remind you to pull your shit together.
