Ben's 1x1x1 - Deal fell through - September 19, 2025 πŸš€

For those of you that are new here, every week I send what I call a 1x1x1.

One thought from my week.
One interesting find/tool from my week.
One image from my life.

Let's dive in πŸ‘‡

Thought from the week

It takes a lot of alignment and magic to get an M&A deal to close.

Over the last 2 months, I pushed really hard to purchase a business in the agriculture sector.

It was my largest purchase attempt yet with a total project size around $7,000,000 and came with a lot of learnings.

I mapped out the financials, built models, wrangled lenders, assembled the Avengers (lawyers + advisors), and finally put in what I thought was a killer offer.

And then… poof.

Deal fell through.

Didn’t even make it to diligence.

Which is like getting dressed for prom, renting the limo, and your date cancels before you even leave the house.

It's a humbling reminder on just how rare it can be for the stars to align and for a transaction to close.

Fun? Weirdly also yes.

Because even when I strikeout, I get a crash course in new industries, how businesses tick, and all around makes me a better businessman even if it feels like I'm falling on my face regularly.

The right opportunity will show up.

It's just important to keep moving and keep digging every day.

Interesting Tool/Find

Back on camera today and found a sweet teleprompter app.

It definitely helps… but I still look like a hostage reading a ransom note.

So grateful to get our food from a local farm and eat with the seasons.

See you all next week!
